Jonathan Yang is the interior student rep on the School of Design student forum. The forum, instigated by the Head of School, met for the first time last week. Jonathan will be using the blog to let all interior students hear about the forum's discussions. Thanks very much Jonathan for doing this on behalf of all of the interior students.

From Jonathan:
The main issue that was being discussed during the meeting is that the Bachelor of Design will be shortened to a 3 year degree with a honors year afterwards if students wish (and are qualified) to pursue further study after their degree. It is possible that a number of new electives will be added to the programme and will be available across all pathways, with options such as sculpture, textile design, retail/commercial design... etc.
The new system would come in effect in year 2009 and will not affect current students. However, if students wish to do a masters degree after their bachelor degree, then the new system would apply.
I will post more info after the next meeting which is in two months time. In the mean time, please give me any feedback with any questions, or thoughts about how we can improve the current system or any complaints about our current learning facilities (furniture; computer/printer/photocopier; water fountain; security... etc.) and I will bring it forth in the next meeting.
